Backcountry camping is loosely defined as camping in remote areas with no amenities. You are responsible for carrying in, and out, all of your gear.


Illal Lake - Northern Canadian Cascades
Illal Lake is a moderately difficult backcountry route that offers plentiful alpine lakeside camping following an overgrown, buggy hike in.


Sugarloaf Mountain – Coast Mountains
A moderately difficult high reward hike with high elevation 4x4 access. Panoramic views throughout. 8.4km's and 1100m's elevation one-way.


Fowl Lake – 8 Peaks Recreation Reserve
A easy to moderate backcountry hike with lakeside meadow camping and sandy water access. 4.2 km one-way with 380m of elevation gained.


Blowdown Lake and Pass – Stein Valley
An easy backcountry opportunity with wonderful lakeside camping opportunities, abundant rainbow trout and easy alpine scrambles.


Kenyon Lake Rec Site - Coast Mountains
An excellent early season or beginner backcountry destination at 3.1km one-way. It is likely you will have this site entirely to yourself.


Blanca Lake – Coast Mountains
A relatively easy backcountry hike at 4.5km one way, with significant alpine lake camping opportunities and big views.


Joss Lake and Joss Mountain Lookout (East Access) – Columbia Mountains
A excellent backcountry hike with camping at alpine lakes and abundant alpine exploration opportunities. Relatively easy at 6km one way.
